Who writes here. What qualifies them to write here. Why this, and why now.
My name is Jin Kong. I have spent most of my working life in and around Korean real estate — not always in the same role, not always in the same corner of the market, but always in proximity to it.
My first proper role was at Korea Asset Management Corporation, where I worked on non-performing loan litigation and asset-backed securities issuance. It was unglamorous work by most measures — distressed assets, legal processes, the slow mechanics of recovery — but it gave me something I've drawn on ever since: a habit of reading a property not just for what it appears to be, but for what it's carrying underneath.
From there, a graduate degree in international real estate. Then years closer to the market itself — brokerage, analysis, and the particular education that comes only from walking through properties that most people will never see the inside of.
I hold a Korean licensed broker certificate, a California real estate broker license, and the CCIM designation. These are listed not as credentials for their own sake, but because they say something about the range of markets I've tried to understand — and about a habit of wanting to understand them properly, on paper as well as on the ground.
The area I know best is the Hannam–Yongsan belt. Hannam The Hill. Nine One Hannam. UN Village. The quieter pockets that rarely appear in data but show up consistently in the decisions of people who know where to look. I've walked those streets many times, in many seasons, in a professional capacity that tends to put you inside spaces most observers only describe from outside.
Quiet Property was not planned as a brand so much as arrived at. I found myself wanting to write about this market with some precision — not the precision of a data report, and not the enthusiasm of a listing — but something closer to a long, considered note from someone who has been paying attention for a long time.
The name came from the nature of the work. The best properties in this part of Seoul do not announce themselves. The people who own them rarely do either. There is a kind of fluency that develops only through sustained observation, and I wanted the writing here to carry some of that.
Whether it does, I leave to the reader.
